Maylin Fernández received her Master of Science degree in Counseling from California State University, Northridge. Maylin has taught at Hunter College as an adjunct lecturer for the Department of Educational Foundations and Counseling. For over ten years, she has worked primarily assisting youth with diverse mental health concerns and families in managing crises and increasing stability. Maylin has experience in organizing events for individuals to learn about mental health, facilitating wellness workshops, and mentoring counselors in training. She is a bilingual psychotherapist who is passionate about empowering underrepresented populations through self-understanding, mindful awareness, and self-compassion. Maylin has a special interest in working with first generation immigrants and historically disadvantaged, and low-income communities. Her clinical interests include: depression, anxiety, interpersonal trauma, adjustment and transitional difficulties, relationship issues, identity and intersectionality, crisis intervention, as well as grief and loss. Maylin approaches treatment in a nonjudgmental way, focused on meeting the individual where they are, and integrating techniques to best fit the needs of each person.
